Hello, everyone! This week’s Kindy 2 blog is about experiments! It’s definitely a fun topic, and it’s also important because in this lesson we learn about scientific instruments. Tools are an important part of any experiment, so it’s best to remember what the names are!
One way to help us to remember keywords is by playing karuta, but with a twist! Just like any normal game of karuta, the goal is to be the first to get whatever flashcard the teacher says.
The twist is that both players must face the opposite way to start! This allows for the teacher to play some sneaky shenanigans, such as switching the order when their backs are turned.
It’s a fun spin on a popular game and it also helps us think a little more about what flashcard we’re actually trying to get!
Once the vocabulary part of the lesson was done, it was time to dive into the actual experiments!
We used color paddles get a grasp of how it was like to see the world through a different filter! Some colors we normally see disappeared, while others changed!
Then we moved on to magnets. We know that magnets like to stick to certain things, but sometimes it’s the repulsion power of magnets that is fun to learn about. For this experiment we tried to get the magnets to touch when the polarity didn’t match. It was harder than it looked! This also allowed us to “feel” the magnetic field.
Overall, it was a fun day for Kindy 2! Everyone was safe, followed the rules and made excellent scientists. Stay curious, Kindy 2!
