Hello from the afternoon classes! We are English Time 1, 2 and 3 and we love to learn English!

During Fun Week for the Month of March, we had the opportunity to learn about some of the many different flags from around the world!

To begin the lesson our teachers showed us pictures of different flags and we learned what countries they were from.

“This flag is from the country called Canada.” “Can you say Canada?”

“Canada!” Yes, great job!”

After we learned the names of the flags, our teachers told us we had a fun craft in store! We were going to make origami flags! Our teachers each handed us a big sheet of paper.

First, we needed to cut the paper in half so we would have two flags. We were very careful to cut slowly, along the dotted line.

“Nice cutting, everyone!”

After we were done cutting it was time to color our flags!

We loved getting to choose what countries we wanted to color.

“What country is that?” “It’s the United Kingdom!” “Looks great.” “Nice coloring!”

Once we were done coloring it was time to fold our papers into flags.

“First, you fold it in half.” “Nice job!”

We all did a good job following directions. Our flags turned out great!

Once our flags were finished it was time to use them to play a game!

Before we started we reviewed the flags one more time so they were fresh in our brains.

“This flag is the German flag!”

After we reviewed we were ready to play!

Our teachers called out a command. We had to do our best to listen and then follow the command if it applied to us.

“If your flag has a red circle, wave it in the air!”

“Wahoo great job, everyone!” “What country is it?” “It’s Japan!”

“If you have the American flag, do some jumping jacks!” “Nice job!”

It was a fun activity and we had a great time learning about the different flags and countries of the world.

After our flag origami we played another game called “All My Neighbors”. We listened carefully when our teachers explained how to play. Our teachers helped us the first couple of rounds until we got the hang of it.

“Can you say all my neighbors who are wearing a skirt?” “Good job!”

“If you’re wearing a skirt, switch!”

“All my neighbors who are wearing red!”

“You found an empty seat.” “Good job!”

Good job, English Time!
