Kindy 1 Memories Part 2. Wonderful Journey ♡

2023.3.24

Hello from the Kindy 1 class!

We can’t believe how fast this year went by! Last week we reminisced over our experiences from April through September. This week we will look back on our memories from October through March.

October

We had a blast getting ready for Halloween and our big Halloween party. To prepare, we learned a Halloween song, did a Halloween craft and even carved a giant pumpkin which we learned was called a “Jack-O-Lantern!”

It was fun to scoop out the seeds. They were so slimy!

We loved the Halloween party most of all. It was so fun dressing up, playing games and enjoying the company of our classmates!

Everyone say “Happy Halloween!”

November

During November, we started a new math topic which was “weight”. We learned how “heavy” and “light” different objects can be. We also had fun comparing the objects and guessing which ones were “heavier” and which ones were “lighter.”

We all pretended we were “Macho Man” when we were lifting the “heavier” objects! “Macho, Macho Man! I want to be a Macho Man!”

During November, Kara also taught us all about an American holiday called “Thanksgiving.”

We learned that Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family and friends, eat a big turkey dinner and to give thanks for everything that we have.

We made turkey crafts and took turns naming all the things that we are thankful for!

December

December was one of our favorite months! The month was brimming with Christmas spirit and holiday cheer! We love Christmas so much that to this day we still sing Christmas songs and make Christmas trees during playtime!

To kick off the month of December we got to decorate our very own Kindy 1 Christmas tree!

We listened to Christmas carols as we took turns splaying the branches, stringing the lights and adding the ornaments to our tree.

Our tree turned out absolutely beautiful and we loved the memories we got to share while gathering around it.

December was also the month of our Christmas concert. We worked hard for weeks and weeks to prepare. All of our hard work paid off because we put on an excellent show!

We loved singing and dancing our songs so much that Kara told us we could go Christmas caroling around IKA. The day before our Christmas holiday we traveled to each classroom and sang “All I Want for Christmas is You” for everyone. It was very special being able to share the joy of Christmas for all of our friends.

January

We returned to IKA after our holiday break rested and ready to learn.

In January we began learning about different countries and nationalities. It was so cool learning about countries and cultures different than our own. Just like our “Together” song for the Christmas concert states “We’re not the same, we’re different in a good way, together is where we belong!”

We learned that each country has its own flag and we had fun coloring different flags from all over the world!

“What country is it?” “It’s South Africa!” “Yes, great job!”

In January, we also celebrated New Year’s during Japanese lesson.

Momoko read us a story and we learned that this year is the year of the rabbit.

We also did a Kagamimochi craft! They turned out so cute! “Happy New Year, everyone!”

February

In early February we celebrated Setsubun. At first, we were a little scared when we saw the demon, but after awhile we got over our fear and threw as many beans as we could. All of our bean throwing worked because the demon was defeated!

In February we also celebrated Valentine’s Day. We listened to love songs and made Valentine’s Day cards for our loved ones. We posed with a rose and took the cutest pictures ever! What a sweet Valentine’s gift!

To wrap up the month of February we participated in Sports Day! We worked hard to prepare. Not only did we strengthen our athletic ability, but we also learned how to be a good team player and a good sport.

Everyone did an amazing job on Sports Day. We strengthened our bond as classmates and we had loads of fun!

March

In March we worked hard preparing for Parents Week. We were excited to show everyone how much we have learned since the start of the year.

After Parents Week we had a fun day celebrating Easter at IKA. We had an Easter Party filled with games, stories, photos and fun.

We loved wearing our “Easter Bunny” ears and taking photos in the Easter egg!

“Happy Easter!”

One of the final things we have been working on this year is our “At the Beginning” song for the “Farewell Party.” We have been working hard practicing our singing and dancing. We can’t wait to sing it on the last day of school and to send well wishes to all of our classmates

The lyrics of the song are touching. One of our favorite lines of the song is:

“Life is a road
And I want to keep going
Love is a river
I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road
Now and forever
Wonderful journey.”

Kindy 1, thank you for allowing Kara and Momoko to be a part of your journey. It has been a deep honor watching you learn and grow. We are so proud of each and every one of you. You have worked extremely hard and you try your best every day. You have taught us so much and there will never be enough words for how you have impacted our lives for the better. We love you all very much and we wish nothing but the best! Remember that you can do anything! Your futures are bright and we are so excited for the rest of your journeys.

All of our love,

Kara and Momoko
