Hello, from the Kindy 1 classroom! This month in Language Arts we had a blast learning about all the different the parts of the face and what each of their functions are.
We started by going over our flashcards. Kara showed us the face parts and explained the importance of each one. She then had us point to the parts on our own faces. Here we are pointing to our “eyelashes” which we learned are important for protecting our eyes from dust and dirt.
Next, we played a game where we stuck our hands inside a mystery box and pulled out different parts of the face. After we got our piece, Kara asked “What is it?” and we would answer, “It’s a ___”.
Once we answered correctly, we put the pieces together to build a face!
As you can see, our face turned out quite lovely.
Next, we practiced our face parts by making faces out of playdough.
We had fun adding the eyes, cheeks and hair! Our faces looked great!
Another activity we did to practice our face parts was drawing each other’s faces. One person would sit behind the plexiglass and everyone else took turns drawing each part.
“Can you draw the cheeks?” “Good job!”
Look at those cute faces!
To end our unit on parts of the face, we created faces on paper using an array of different materials. This was fun because it allowed us to get creative and use our imaginations!
We took turns picking out different items to make our faces. The feathers made great hair!
“Look! My face has two blue eyes.” “We use our eyes to see!”
Here we are with our finished faces. They look fabulous!
Good job learning the parts of the face, Kindy 1! We hope you had as much fun learning as Momoko and Kara did teaching you. Keep on using those mouths to smile big!
