Hello Kindy 3! This months math topic was about numbers and distance. We got some practice with numbers and talking about how far something is.
We started out by discussing how to compare different things by using words like ‘bigger’ and ‘biggest’ before getting some practice with things we already know about our friends.
We already know about the kids in the class and now we can compare their descriptions them using our new words. It’s really easy when you get the format down.
Because we are talking about distance this month, it couldn’t be complete without learning to use a ruler for measurement. We started by using a large ruler on the whiteboard to measure and write the distance of each line.
It was a lot of fun even though it was a little hard for our first try. I know we can get it easily with a little more practice.
It’s finally time to put our skills to the test. We got to try measuring and drawing our own lines on our paper. We did the first one together and off we went.
It’s not so hard and we were able to complete it very quickly. It was a bit hard to keep our drawn lines straight, so we will work on that next time.
All in all it was a lot of fun learning to use a ruler and even thought it looks hard we were able to get it down really fast. Maybe we can try measuring millimeters next time!
Great job Kindy 3! We knew you could do it!
